Jackie Garza came up with the perfect idea of helping her family business. The young girl afraid of losing the business due to the declining sales after Hurricane Harvey, took to social media to ask for help. And the social media sure didn't disappoint her and within the next two days, Garza's family bakery got so many customers that they almost ran out of bread. There were even some people who travelled from far, only to help Garza's family.
#1 Faith In Humanity Restored
This world is full of good. Where on one hand we hear evil things in our society, then there are also people who will go to any length to help others out, making us restore our faith in humanity again. This is what happened when 18-year old Jackie Garza took to social media to save her father's bakery.
#2 Help Twitter Strangers!
Little did Garza knew that so many people will come forward to help her. The teenager was afraid that her father's bakery will close down due to declining sales after Hurricane Harvey's destruction. So in hopes of getting more customers, Garza on December 6, alongside a video of her father Trini Garza, Garza posted a video on Twitter.
Along with the video, she wrote, "Hey y’all my dad has a little panaderia/restaurant. He makes all of the pan dulce himself. He been thinking about closing but I can’t let that happen. Spread the word. 1 RT could bring in a potential customer! La Casa Bakery and Cafe 1002 Hogan Street 77009!!"
#3 Power Of Celebrity Tweet!
It was Garza's luck that her message caught the eye of Mexican singer Paulina Rubio, who has a fan following of 11.5 million on Twitter, retweeted the message on her page. Oh boy! the power of celebrity tweet. Within two days La Casa Bakery and Cafe were almost sold out of bread.
#4 Twitter Did This!
Garza later got back to Twitter to thank people and the singer for their support. She also posted a picture of a couple who drove for nearly an hour to reach to the bakery after reading her tweet. The young girl wrote, "This couple drove 45minutes to come to my Bakery. I literally broke down in tears as she told me how much she supported what I was doing. So many people have come up to me and talking about everything that's been going on and I'm still shocked at the fact that TWITTER DID THIS. I'm for ever thankful for every network that contacted me to take the time out of their day to sit down and talk to me. Every article that has written about us. This feels so surreal, it's only been 5 days since the tweet, this is only the beginning. I just turned 18 makin moves tho ;) #blessed"
#5 All Credit Goes To The Parents
Talking to a local TV, Garza gave all the credit to her parent's hard work, "I know all the hard work my parents put into this. They work from early in the morning until late at night, even though we close at 5 p.m.The quality of the food and the authenticity of it is amazing."
#6 Promoting The Family Business Through Social Media
The 18-year old has realized the immense power social media holds and has set up separate pages on different social media websites promoting her family bakery and cafe. Garza plans to study business and restaurant management in future. She plans to take over the family business in future. Way to go girl, more power to you!
