#3 With time Sir Darius's craft has gained attention from shelters around the state

Two years later, in 2017, Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma struck Texas and Florida. Seeing that the animals in his area were shipped to local shelters, this broke his heart. Determined to make his skills useful, the little kid decided to make bow ties for the animals to make them look adorable in their photoshoots and hopefully they will get their forever homes this way.

Darius started off by making 10 to 15 bow ties in a week. But with time the demand for his craft grew more and In 2019, Sir Darius and this mother visited seven states, bringing handmade bow ties to shelters in need.

#4 The hardest part is leaving the shelter

Talking about his time at shelters, the teenager says, "The hardest part about going to the animal shelters is I always get attached and it's so hard to leave." According to Darius, so far he has made around 400 to 500 bow ties and has helped more than 100 animals in finding their perfect homes.

His Instagram page is filled with photos of shelter pets wearing his cute and colorful bow ties.

Darius's work has been recognized by the community and he was recently named the GoFundMe Kid Hero of January 2020. The young boy is continuing with his mission of PAW-SOME by mailing bow ties to shelters around the state and plans to visit more shelters during vacations.
