Terrified Puppy Who Kept Crying At A Shelter Finds Her Happily-Ever-After

In the world of animal rescue, many dogs come with a past marred by trauma and fear, and their stories often remain a mystery. 

What's clear is they need lots of love and patience to heal their wounded hearts.

Lucy, an adorable shelter puppy, found herself in such a situation. 

Her arrival at the Austin Animal Center in Texas was marked by incessant crying, a sign of her overwhelming fear.

The staff at the shelter responded with kindness and constant affection, attempting to soothe her anxiety. 

While Lucy showed gratitude through her wagging tail, her tears continued to flow, indicating a deep-seated fear that needed time to heal.

Lucy was also nursing an injured leg, adding to her need for special care.

Morgan, who visited Lucy at the shelter, was heartbroken to see the puppy's fear-filled eyes. 

“She was so terrified. We didn’t know if it was new people or having been at the shelter because we knew there had been some trauma there,” said Morgan.

After discussing with her girlfriend, Emily, they decided to bring Lucy into their home, aiming to fill her life with joy. 

What initially started as a fostering arrangement transformed the moment Morgan held Lucy in her arms. 

“So I went into this being like, ‘We’re just fostering this puppy.’ And then two minutes into having her in my arms, I was like, ‘This dog is going to be ours.’“

She knew instantly that Lucy was meant to be a permanent member of their family.

At home, Lucy's journey to recovery began. Initially, everything scared her, even just the thought of going outside.

However, Morgan and Emily patiently helped Lucy overcome her fears, gradually introducing her to longer walks, which also aided her injured leg.

Under the tender care of her new moms, Lucy gradually transformed. 

She grew into a joyous and confident dog, brimming with affection.

She reveled in cuddles and hugs, finding comfort in the love showered upon her.

Lucy not only found a loving home but also a new friend in the family's cat. 

They quickly became inseparable, sharing playful moments and sweet companionship.

Morgan couldn't help but express her delight in Lucy's transformation, saying, “She is super lovey, super sweet! She’s so perfect.”

Lucy now lives a life filled with boundless love and happiness, a stark contrast to her tearful days in the shelter. 

Her family adores her, and they couldn't imagine their life without her. 

Lucy's journey to finding her forever home is a heartwarming reminder of the transformative power of love and patience.
