A disturbing incident that left the onlookers screaming in horror was recorded on camera too. The video doing rounds on social media shows how the fair ride started to rotate and fell from the height of 50 ft to the ground. As the ride crashes to the ground, many people sitting in it, including women and children are harshly thrown out of it.
Bizarre footage shows the moment a fairground ride in India malfunctioned and goes crashing to the ground along with all the people on board.
Thankfully, no one was reported to be seriously injured in the incident but looking at the footage one can say the experience might be too traumatizing to forget about it for a long time to come.
Several people, including children, have been reported to be injured in the incident.
Local media reports that many people were shifted to the hospital after the crash and the staff of the fair ride have been held responsible for the incident as they were the ones responsible for the safety of the ride.
It is also reported that the staff ran away and escaped before the police could reach the site of the accident.
An investigation has been launched into what happened at the fairground in India’s Punjab region on September 4.
In the video – as you can see – the ride is at the very apex and spinning around very fast.
Then, it comes crashing down as expected, but something was obviously very wrong with it.
Instead of pulling out of the descent like it is supposed to, it just kept falling down, crashing into the floor with some force.
The video might be disturbing to watch for some audience
As the ride crashes on the ground, some people riding the attraction could be seen harshly thrown out of their seats, while onlookers scream in pure horror.
At least 15 people are reported to have been injured, with five people admitted to a hospital near to the fairground, hosting the Mohali Trade Fair.
According to the Indian Express, the Deputy Superintendent of local police Harsimran Singh Bal said: “A carnival was being organised and the eyewitness told us that there was a technical snag in the swing and it had fallen.”
The fair was supposed to continue until September 11, but it has now been closed down.
There is also an investigation into whether the people who organised the event had permission to do so.
One of those who organized the festival, Sunny Singh, said that they’d operated the ride on many occasions before, but ‘this has never happened’.
He also reportedly claimed he is planning to cooperate with the police in their investigations.
One eyewitness said: “We saw people falling from the swing when it went up. There were children and women sitting in it.”
After that, the people who were in charge of the carnival are said to have fled the scene.
