Terrifying Moment Lions Start Eating SUV Full Of Tourists

#1 A Tanzanian tour guide named Emmanuel Bayo took photos of the lions vicious attack.

This is the moment terrified tourists watched a lion eating the tires of their vehicle while they were on a safari drive in Tanzania earlier this month.

Photos of the hour long attack in the Serengeti National Park show hungry lions gnawing at the wheels of the truck to try and get at the SUV full of tourists.

#2 According to Bayo, the lions were very hungry when they smelled the nearby tourists.

Gnawing at the tires, and cracking an enforced glass window, the lions were on the hunt for food. "It was quite scary really - the lions are very hungry in the park and hadn't had a kill for a while," Bayo said. "The truck was driving past with people inside and the lions smelt the humans."

#3 The lions were trying to get inside the SUV for over an hour.

The tour guide said 'They destroyed the wheels and tried to smash the windows - even though we have enforced glass which stops this. It would have been a disaster if we hadn't. It was scary but exhilarating - I think everyone should come on safari with me to have these experiences.'

#4 After Destroying the SUV the lions attempted to get inside.

Video footage obtained from one of the passengers shows a lion opening one of their doors during the attack with its mouth. The tourists were able to close and lock the door just in time.

#5 Bayo remembers the day of the attack as "scary but exhilarating, and never seen before."

The tourists have some tales to tell about their safari vacation, but Bayo said it was something he had never seen before. He knew the lions had not had a kill in a long time and were very hungry, but had never had any attack his vehicle in the past. They were lucky to make it out alive after calling for help on the radio.
