A mother in Texas is receiving attention on social media after cautioning parents that watching the new "Hocus Pocus 2" movie with their families could be harmful to their spiritual health.
Texas Mom Warns ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ Will ‘Unleash Hell On Your Kids’
Watching Hocus Pocus 2 could "open the gates of hell," according to a Texas mother, and bring spells into your home.
A 33-year-old Troy resident named Jamie Gooch has advised parents against letting their kids watch the highly awaited Halloween sequel, which debuted on Disney+ on September 30.
In an interview with local television station KWTX, the mother of three alleged that the film, which stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy, will "unleash hell on your kids and in your home."
"The whole movie is based on witches harvesting children for blood sacrifices," Gooch said, seemingly on the verge of tears. "It grieves me, the thought of exposing our kids to darkness."
In the first movie, Winifred, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson are mistakenly brought back to life in modern Salem, Massachusetts, where they immediately start murdering children in order to consume their souls and remain young forever.
In the follow-up, the three make an attempt to create a spell that would grant them immortality so they can take vengeance on the historical city, the site of the famed witch trials.
"Do not watch this film," Gooch advised. "Everybody thinks it’s fake and innocent, but they could be casting any type of spell that they want to, anything could be coming through that TV screen into your home."
"I love everything to do with house and home, I love creating a safe environment for my family and friends to come into, I believe everything starts here, it all starts at home," she said, adding, "So beware and be aware of what we’re bringing into our homes."
The mother, a devout Christian who co-owns a farm with her husband, admitted that while her family doesn't celebrate Halloween anymore, they do each year for harvest.
Gooch also claimed to have personally witnessed how things on television had "manifested in real life" but she did not go into any detail on her alleged involvement with witchcraft.
"Everybody thinks it's fake and innocent, but they could be casting any type of spell that they want to, anything could be coming through that TV screen and into your home," she told KWTX.
Gooch continued by advising parents to "consider all the options" and "overthink" decisions in order to ensure that their kids are safe.
Gooch felt the need to post about the Halloween movie on her Facebook page because the spooky season has officially started, in order to encourage other mothers to consider the content their children are viewing.
She told the news channel, "I was a little bit nervous when I pushed 'post' because I was concerned about the reaction that I would get," adding that the majority of the responses to her widely shared statement were positive.
"It was wonderful in a sense that a lot of people agreed with me in that they already knew, there were some that didn’t understand, but it was welcomed: tell me your opinion I want to hear where you’re coming from, although it doesn’t change my convictions or what I choose to do with my family," she added.
Although the mother's viewpoint might not be the most common, she stated that it was worth it if it even only opened one person's mind.
"I hope I make a difference, but even if it’s in one person’s life...that’s all that matters," Gooch said. "It doesn’t have to be transforming Hollywood, I don’t have to make a huge impact, just a small one and I’d be happy and satisfied."
