The trials and tribulations of parenthood involves a lot of snot...
The Craziest Things Kids Put Up Their Noses... And How To Deal With It Before Going To The ER.
#1 It's not just fingers.
Kids have a fascination with sticking things in their nose. This little guy has a pea up there, little objects tend to find their way in there. Some think it's funny. My daughter just stuck a bit of crayon up her nose and when asked why she told us "I didn't want to hear that song." Yes, she was dead serious and we did talk to her about not hearing with her nose.
#2 What can you find in there?
Well, to put it simply... if it fits, it goes in there. Some popular choices are:
1. Crayons
2. Beads
3. French fries
4. Fingers
5. Marbles
6. Spaghetti
7. Tissue
8. Cheerios
9. Small toys
10. Beans and peas
#3 Take this battery for example.
Some of the crazier items include:
1)flowers
2)string
3)batteries
4)beads
5)chopsticks
6)rocks
#4 Lovely beads...
While most things aren't a big deal and are able to be blown out sometimes the bigger things have to be helped out and that's where it's just snotty to be a parent. If left to fester in there it can obstruct air and more importantly cause an infection. Food can even rot and smell.
#5 What to do before an ER visit!
First things first, try to get them to blow it out and there own. You can try to induce a sneeze, harder than it actually sounds. Pepper doesn't work. If that doesn't work, close the other unclogged nostril and blow in their mouths, via CPR. You will get a ton of snot on your face. I know from experience, but it generally works. You have to be careful using the tweezer, it can push them up further. Have fun, parents. Snotty is just a part of the job.
