In an attempt to promote positive body image, an attractive teenager decided to post a photo of her face half covered in makeup and the other half left natural. The Internet exploded with comments, but she was not prepared for the outpour of response one simple photo would evoke.
The Internet Exploded After This Teen Posted A Picture Of Only Half Her Face In Makeup
Her Everyday Look
A striking teen with a penchant for makeup decided to show the stark contrast between her natural face and her done up look. Maisie Beech thought she was doing something positive that would help girls embrace their natural look, while seeing what is possible with the skill of applying makeup.
Compare And Contrast
The 19-year-old girl posted a photo of her face with one half untouched, and the other covered with her day-to-day makeup look. She may have expected positive reinforcement, but instead she was greeted with the wrath of a bunch of trolls who derided her for being "fake" and called her "ugly."
Passion For Makeup
The teen from Wales was inspired to post photos of her "nude" face after her brother saw her applying makeup and was astonished at what went into the whole process. Maisie is passionate about makeup, but she felt it was important that girls learn to embrace their makeup-free look.
Internet Backlash
Initially, she was disappointed by the backlash she received on the Internet as her photos went viral. A few "male-oriented" sites mocked the picture with captions like, "This is why I have commitment issues," and "When you first start hanging out vs. when she gets comfortable."
Nude Look
To her credit, Beech has taken the moronic bashing in stride. "It's sad that this is how society is now," she told Daily Mail. "Women shouldn't be criticized or called fake or unnatural for wearing makeup in the same way they shouldn't be called ugly if they're not wearing any," the red-haired teen said about the response.
'Albino Blonde'
Negative responses poured in and greatly outweighed the positive feedback, as commenters wondered if she suffered from Alopecia (a hair loss condition), and one commenter even speculated that she had cancer. The fair-skinned beauty says she has been drawing on her eyebrows since she was 12 because "they're albino blonde."
#7
Maintaining positivity, the self-described "ginger" saw comments saying people should be nice to her because she could have a medical condition like cancer, she responded by saying, "Maybe be kind to people for the simple fact that they're a fellow human being with feelings."
She expected some negative comments, but did not expect them to outnumber the positive ones the way they did. The teenager was able to take a positive spin on the who ordeal and says, "the positive remarks did make it all worth it for me, it was nice to have some recognition for what I do."
