A kitten dubbed 'too ugly' to be loved has been taken in by a charity after being left for dead because of his unusual face.
The ginger cat was adopted by Laura Llacer of the Santuario Compasion Animal rescue centre in Spain where he was given the name Romeo having been abandoned on the street.
The out-of-luck cat's brothers and sisters all found homes, but he was left behind because of a deformity to his eye.
Who could turn a little kitten away?
No one wanted Romeo the ginger kittie, who was born with a deformity that makes him look different
Who could throw this adorable little guy out into the street?
The cat never knew love and tenderness or had someone to call his owner. He was called ‘too ugly'
Someone, apparently.
That's why he never got love and tenderness, let alone had someone to call his owner.
This guy was found abandoned on the streets of a Spanish city along with his brothers and sisters.
They were all put up for adoption but while the rest quickly found homes, no one wanted to adopt Romeo because of his facial deformities.
He ended up at the Santuario Compasion Animal Rescue Centre, where he was dubbed "Romeo."
Santuario Compasion Animal, a sanctuary that looks after unwanted farm animals, heard of Romeo's plight and owner Laura Llacer simply couldn't say no.
That's when rescue workers harnessed the power of cute cat pics.
"They told us that no one wanted him because he was ugly. But for us Romeo is not ugly, he's a lovely little kitten who likes to play like the rest of the cats. And their differences make them special," A Santuario Compasión Animal spokesperson said.
They shared Romeo's story on social media.
Immediately, they were flooded with offers to adopt the cat.
And all this time, the ginger boy was just as good as other cats playful, affectionate, and absolutely adorable. All it took was for some sweet people to recognize that in him.
Eventually, Romeo went home with Laura Llacer, who works at the rescue center.
Romeo has settled in nicely in his new home, and his new owners are hoping his story can stop pet prejudice all over the world.
They said: ‘He spends his days playing and calling the attention of the volunteers to listen to him.
‘It seems Romeo was a kitten to which no one wanted to give a home because they said he was ugly, and now people from all over the world have written us to ask for him.
‘We hope that the story of Romeo will help to end up with a lot of prejudices and teach us that what is important, what unites us, is the desire to live.'

Llacer, if you ever need a cat-sitter for little Romeo, give us a call.
See how with a little bit of love, Romeo's life changed forever:
