#1 When NZ runner fell during the race, see what this American athlete did

Rio Olympics just witnessed the most inspirational moment on August 16th, 2016 during women's 5000 meters race. While running on the track, two athletes, American Abbey D'Agnostino and Nikki Hamblin of New Zealand, tripped over each other and fell on the ground.

The general response to such a situation by any athlete is to get back on feet ASAP and continue the race. However, in this particular incident, the true spirit of sportsmanship was at display as American D'Agnostino got up and instead of resuming the race, she went back to help NZ Hamblin get back on her feet.

#2 An emotional hug to seal the moment

Unfortunately, American D'Agnostino hurt her ankle badly during the fall and then NZ Hamblin tried to help her run but D'Agnostino couldn't continue because of the injury and urged Hamblin to go on without her.

D'Agnostino collapsed on the ground but after a moment of catching her breath, she started running again. On the finish line, D'Agnostino was met by the waiting Hamblin and both these athletes shared an emotional hug.

#3 Hamblin was awe-struck by D'Agnostino's kindness

Hamblin and D'Agnostino finished with last two slots in the race respectively but they both were promoted to the next level of 5000m final on Friday, August 19th, 2016.

After the race ended, Hamblin appreciated the efforts of fellow American rival in an interview. She said, ‘When I went down, I was like "Whats happening, why am I on the ground?" And suddenly there's this hand on my shoulder like "Get up, get up, we have to finish this". I'm so grateful for Abbey (D'Agnostino) for doing that for me. I mean, that girl is the Olympic spirit right there. I'm so impressed and inspiring that she did that. I've never met her before. Like, I've never met this girl before. And isn't that just so amazing?'
