As we all know, Hook is a live-action adaptation of the iconic Disney cartoon Peter Pan...

...which was actually an animated adaptation of a character created by Scottish novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie.

And when Steven Spielberg signed on to direct Hook, he wanted to pay as much tribute to his predecessors as possible.

This is perfectly exemplified in the portrayal of characters like Smee, The Lost Boys and Captain Hook himself.

For the most part, the film was fantastic at bringing the classic characters to life.

But it would appear that they forgot to include one major character.

Or at least I thought they did until I noticed this tiny hidden detail in the film.

Remember the crocodile from the Disney cartoon?

You know, the one that was actually responsible for biting off Hook's hand, leading the Captain to a lifelong quest for revenge?

Well upon first glance, it would appear that the Spielberg film somewhat disregards this tidbit of Captain Hook history.

In fact, any mention of the croc is quite minor and very forgettable.

But upon further inspection, one will find that Spielberg does, in fact, pay respects to the crocodile.

It's actually sitting right in front of our eyes throughout the entire movie!

Take a close look at Hook's hat.

Do you see it? That hat looks an awful lot like a crocodile's mouth doesn't it?

That's because it is a crocodile mouth!

It was hanging over his head the entire movie!

Metaphors...amirite?

How did we miss this?!
