You know how it goes — you have that one friend or relative who ceaselessly manages to stump you when holidays and birthdays roll around. They never seem to need anything, but nothing you can find in stores seems to suit them. And you don't want to fall back on the old Amazon gift card again. So what could you possibly get for this difficult person?
Well, luckily for you, there's tinplatestudios, which is an Etsy shop run by Seattle-based sculptor Anthony Hicks. Here, you can find just what you're looking for, from cryptozoological anomalies preserved under glass to a mounted Feejee Mermaid.
#1 The Feejee Mermaid
After the famous P.T. Barnum hoax, which saw a preserved monkey's top half sewn to a preserved fish's bottom half. This one is made from papier-mache and clay.
Okay, so these might look a bit disturbing, but nothing about them is hazardous. All the items you see here, despite looking creepily realistic, are actually created using polymer clays, papier-mache, and wire.
#2 Kraken Reliquary Pendant
#6 The Hand of Set
This one is punnily billed as "part of a Set."
Even the liquid you see in the vessels is resin, so there's no actual liquid in any of the finished pieces.
#8 Giant Anomaly (Homo cephalos)
#10 Robust Potted Anomaly (Maw)
