America and Americans are known for doing some crazy things. Most of the times, when all other countries are doing one thing, America is doing the exact opposite or using some other variation that makes little sense to the rest of the world. So, if you are American or not, you will totally relate to these posts.
Flavour vs Flavor
Even as I type this, my American Grammarly app is trying to get me to correct the word flavour to flavor. Go figure, right? It seems that many other English speaking countries prefer the added letter "u" to words like this. American people prefer to simplify things.
We did it first.
Would this be considered cultural appropriation? We think that all non-American people who do anything with their tea in protest should be reminded that we did it first and give us our credit where it is due.
Special Keys
Now, we wish we could see the entire keyboard just to see where they put the hashtag. What Americans fail to realize is the keyboards are different in most other countries in some way or another. Do you really think that the Chinese have QWERTY keyboards? They would have to all know English for that to work.
Damn right!
This photo is a perfect look at what an American sky looks like as the sun sets. The only thing you cannot clearly see is the stars that fill up the blue section of the sky.
Freedom Crumbs
Some people might sit around feeding pigeons or ducks, but in 'Merica we feed the majestic American Bald Eagle with little crumbs of freedom. If you don't know, now you know.
Autumn
You can have your Autumn, we will have our Fall here in America. Not only is it easy to remember as the time of year that the leaves fall from the trees, but it is also much easier to spell Fall than Autumn.
Stereotypes
There are plenty of offensive stereotypes out there about Americans. What we fail to remember is that we really brought them on ourselves. We really did completely freak out when Hostess stopped making Twinkies. What does that say about us?
Party time
Americans have no respect for other countries and their customs. It is all about them all day every day. Get used to it.
Works every time
If there is one song that gets just about every single American hyped up, it is Cotton-Eyed Joe. Not only can we not help to sing it loudly, but we also might start dancing as well.
Cheese Toasties
As an American, I want to know what a cheese toastie is. How is it different from an American grilled cheese. Is it as buttery and gooey with cheese like a grilled cheese? I might need to try this if I ever make it to the UK. There are a lot of good questions asked on this thread. Inquiring minds really want to know.
Fortnight
The only Fortnight Americans know about is the video game. Otherwise, we say two weeks or fourteen days.
Don't Touch Me
One thing us Americans love is anything big, and that includes our yards. We do not want to be able to hear our neighbors sneeze or flush their toilets. We prefer the sounds of our own home.
