They Thought This Dog Hated People. But This Vet Proves Something When He Enters The Dog’s Cage.
#1
Dr. Andy Mathis is a vet in Elberton, Georgia, USA. To say he has a soft spot for animals is an understatement. What this vet repeatedly does to save four-legged friends is, at times, superhuman. And he's done it once again with this dog.

One day, a woman brought a pit bull into his clinic. The dog seemed frightened and was in really poor condition. She didn't make a peep and wouldn't let anyone pet her, ducking away at the slightest sound. Dr. Mathis could barely get his hands on the animal without making her crunch into a tiny ball. We can only guess what sort of awful experience she must've had with humans. Moreover, she was half-starved, anemic, hypothermic, and had vaginal prolapse.

This means that her reproductive organs were pushed outside her body and had to be operated on. The little pup was in a deplorable condition and the vet couldn't say whether she would pull through. So, he posted her story on Facebook and asked, "Should I put her down or try to save her?"

The answers flooded in from colleagues, fans, and friends - try to save her! It was also suggested he give her a name, because "it's awful to see a nameless animal in a near-death condition. It would be as if she never lived!" So, the vet named her Graycie and began to monitor and post her weight and updates online, hoping to get her back on her paws.

But Graycie's treatment was more easily said than done. The costs quickly rose. There was a $1,150 bill for a single day in the special clinic that saved her life when they first met. Thankfully, Dr. Mathis got a 20% discount, but the bill still remained above $900. The vet had founded an organization in memory of his own four-legged friend, Jimmy, who had recently passed away. The donations he collected there covered $750 of the costs, leaving $200 to go, but Dr. Mathis just wouldn't give up on Graycie.

After her surgery, she still had a lot of problems. She was still extremely shy and unsure about potty-training. This meant her cage had to be constantly cleaned. For a long time after her rescue, she still shrunk away when anyone tried to touch her. Dr. Mathis finally decided he had to try something extreme. What he ended up doing will bring you to tears.
