They say that necessity is the mother of invention, and who has more necessity than, well, a mother?! Leave it to a mom to figure out what to do with all that wasted foyer space! In this case, the invention is called Angie. All she needed was for her daughter to have more place to play, however that was somewhat hard living in a two-room townhouse. One day she had a splendid idea, for what reason not transform the foyer into a space?

Consider it. It's a splendid thought, isn't that so? Rather than an expensive expansion to their home, Angie figured out a way to see where a room should be inside. The foyer already had three walls just waiting to be used.

Apartment Therapy explains:

"Her husband and father-in-law decided to bring this idea to life. Now Angie and her daughter both have a little place of their own to get away and color, play, and maybe even get a little work done."

The development began with building a protected base. At that point, the main different advances were to introduce the ground surface, and then put up a safety rail that matched the railing of the existing staircase. The result? A loft that looks like it should have been there all along.

Such a natural progression! This two-room townhome has changed into a two-room and space, and it just has a significant effect. Any harried parent can tell you how much it helps to have a designated space for work and play that’s separate from a bedroom.
