Nicholas and Rafaela Ordaz have been married for 82 years.
Nicholas is 102 and Rafaela is 100. One of their grandchildren, Leticia says that divorce is something foreign to their family."Their parents lived to be 112 and 108, and they were also happily married."

Five generations gathered to celebrate Nicholas's birthday.
Leticia says everyone is shocked to see them still so close. "They're still so in love. It's quite remarkable. In every picture, they're holding hands or trying to kiss each other."

The secret is: mutual respect, affection, and "not sweating the small stuff."
Those are the things the couple says are detrimental to a long-lasting and loving relationship. Leticia also talks about just how obviously this couple shows how important they are to each other. "They take care of each other. At the party, he kept looking around to see if she had gotten any cake yet. She has diabetes she can't really have cake! But he wanted them to experience it together."

Leticia says her grandparents have set the bar very high.
"When they celebrated their 75th anniversary, they had a big wedding party to renew their vows. It was at that point that we thought, 'Wow, this is special.' We started doing research to see if they were breaking any records."

Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher currently hold the record for longest marriage.
They were married in 1924 and were together for 86 years, 290 days until February 2011 when Herbert passed away. But Nicholas and Rafaela are still going strong.

Leticia adds that the older her grandparents get, the less they remember things.
"They forget everyone else's names, but always remember each other."

Love doesn't see with the eyes but with the heart.
