Two Indiana women are struggling to survive after being viciously attacked for 30 minutes while on a morning jog.
They Went For A Jog, But Just Minutes Later They Are Fighting To Survive
#1 Two Young Women In Indiana Are Recovering From A Vicious Attack While Out On An Afternoon Jog
The two cousins 19-year-old Isabella George and 20-year-old Rebekah Forgey decided to joy along a country road in Carroll County, Indiana when suddenly a pack of four pit bulls approached and brutally attacked the pair.
After realizing the dogs' intentions, the two women raced across a field toward home. But the dogs chased them down and tackled the women to the ground. Then the pit bulls started tearing away at the young women's flesh.
#2 The Attack Became A 30-Minute “Feeding Frenzy”
Forgey is missing more than 75 percent of her scalp and muscles were ripped from her leg.*
Despite the injuries, she is in stable condition in intensive care. But she'll need muscle and skin grafts and will NEVER be able to regrow her hair.
*Pictures of Forgey have not been released due to the graphic nature.
George fared better. She is recovering at home with puncture wounds and large bruises all over her body. Teeth marks and missing flesh are visible on her legs and arms.
#3 The Aggressive Dogs Attacked Their Owner When He Arrived To Assist The Women
According to The Indy Channel, the young women fought for half an hour with the dogs. The dogs owner, Richard Darter, arrived on the scene and tried to stop the attack, only to be bitten himself. He suffered bites and bruises from his neck to his feet and has had three fingers stitched back into place.
#4 A Passing Motorist Came To The Rescue
The bloodied women, and the owner, were only saved from being eaten alive when a motorist who happened to pass by and saw the attack drove into the field. Her arrival in a pick-up truck frightened and scattering the dogs. She then hauled the victims into her truck and rushed them to the emergency room.
The heroic woman was called a "godsend" for rescuing the three victims, as the road is not one that is normally traveled, and she was just out sight seeing when she came upon the attacks.
#5 The Dogs Were Caught The Next Day
Police found the four dogs just a short distance from the field the following morning. One was shot dead by police on the scene and the other three were euthanized.
Darter was previously cited for not controlling his dogs. Carroll County Sheriff Toby Leazenby called for prosecutors to charge the dog owner. He said the dogs were literally on a feeding frenzy because they were being starved by owner Darter.
"Based on the injuries that I'm aware of at this point, I'm concerned that these animals were literally attacking to survive,' he told The Indy Channel.
