When he says he "will get to it"

When a guy says that he will get to it, it probably means that it is unlikely to happen in the near future.

"I’ll call you."

What he means "I’m not going to call you. Well, I might. Probably not, though."

"You look nice"

If he didn’t offer up the compliment by himself, without any prompting, he probably doesn’t care about what you’re wearing. Not that you should care if he likes it or not anyway, but he probably just wants to leave.

"I’m pretty much single"

"I’m actually married with three kids and a dog."

"I miss you"

Depending on where you are in your relationship, he may very well miss you, but what is it that he misses? Usually what he means to be saying is that he misses your body in his bed.

"She is just a friend.”

Translation: "I’m flattered by your jealousy and I swear I’ve never had sex with her. If I had, we probably wouldn’t still be friends."

"Can we talk about this later?"

What he means "Could you pretty, pretty please with sugar on top… shut the fuck up?"

"Do you mind if we watch sports this week?"

What he means: "I'm watching sports all weekend regardless of what she thinks"

"What we have is perfect and I would not want a label to kill that

He means that he would like to keep other options open and he is not ready to settle down.

"I need space"

He needs time to think. Plain and simple. Believe that this is really what he wants when he expresses this to you.

"That's cool"

Otherwise known as, “I don’t care about what you’re talking about at all.”

"You’re going to make someone very happy someday."

This is the male equivalent of a girl saying, “Let’s just be friends.” In fact, they may actually say that they’d rather be friends before they tell you this. Sadly, it’s probably the nicest rejection you could have from a guy.

"I’m going to be a little late. Let’s be in touch."

"I’m totally swamped at work. I have no idea how late I’m going to be, and I’ll try to call. But don’t get worried or upset if I don’t call because I might forget."

"I’m not angry."

"I’m a little angry. OK, maybe very angry inside. But just give me some space and stop talking about this. Let’s take a breather, and I’ll deal with this on my own. And please don’t keep asking me if I’m angry. Actually, can we just move past this altogether?"

"Let me give you a massage"

Let’s have sex now please, thanks

How do you know that guy?

Have you slept with him?

"I’m sorry."

They just are sorry that the argument is happening or that they’re caught doing something they shouldn’t have done. In other words, when guys apologize, they just want drama to cease.

"I’m not a control freak."

I’m not being controlling. I’m just explaining why if you don’t do the way I’m telling you to, you will probably regret it.

"I want a day with the boys"

"You’re consuming all of my time"

"I love you"

This is another phrase where timing matters. If he says it right before or during sex, he probably means he loves your body and having sex with you. He might not mean he actually loves you as a person.
