At some point in out lives, we have all been in a relationship that ended. Sadly, we always wonder if the other person had cheated on us or lied to us. To catch a cheating partner is nearly impossible because the cheater is also a liar and pretty good at what they do. However, there are a few tell-tale signs that will give away even the best of fibbers and help you figure out if they are cheating.
Things People Do When They Are Lying About Cheating
#1 The Lips
A sign that someone is lying to you is when they begin licking their lips and swallowing a lot. That's not normal behavior. Also, if they start smiling for no reason at all, especially at awkward moments, this is not a good sign.
#2 The Hands
Keep an eye on the person's hands. When people lie, they often have trouble controlling their hands because of their nerves. They often shake and are unable to stop them from moving when talking or telling their stories.
#3 Fidgeting
Sometimes liars will touch their ears, twirl their hair or pick up things out of the blue to keep their hands occupied as they weave a real amazing story. If they continuously move their hands while holding the object this is a real give away.
#4 Sweating
Sweat is another thing to watch for if you believe someone is telling you a tall tale. Pay particular attention to the person's forehead and hands or neck because those areas tend to heat up most when someone is trying to pull the wool over your eyes.
#5 The Blame
A real liar will try to turn every single thing against you. Everything is suddenly your fault. They'll make accusations against you to try and make you feel guilty. This is an attempt to take the eyes off of themselves. They'll begin blaming others for being late, not calling, or missing dates.
#6 Gut Feelings
You'll get a real gut feeling if they are lying when they try to continuously bring up things from the past to argue about. Little things that sometimes make no sense at all or have nothing to do with what's going on. This allows them to avoid your questions or to face the truth. Your inner instinct is trying to warn you if you have that gut feeling so pay attention when it starts to knot up when they speak.
#7 The Eyes
Direct eye contact is something liars tend to avoid. This is another way of avoiding confronting the truth. Pay attention to how often they blink. If they blink repeatedly they may be lying, or have dust in their eyes. But you can figure that out for yourself.
#8 Gibberish
Cheaters and liars will start saying things that have no meaning whatsoever. They'll even get confused with things, trip themselves up, and may not even notice it. Not only that but the things they say will be said with a lack of belief or sense. They may make an excuse for being late turn into a completely nonsense fable complete with characters and a plotline.
#9 The Voice
They will often start to use strong language and may even scream or talk loudly. You can tell a lot about someone's voice and tone when they speak. They don't want to hear a word you are saying, which is a tactic used by liars and cheaters because they want to avoid talking about the topic. If this behavior is constant, it's a pretty good sign the person is a liar and maybe a cheater.
#10 Cell Phones
Their cell phone can tell you whether or not they are a cheater. If they hid their phone or chat apps from you, there's a good reason for it. They don't want you to find out what they're hiding which is likely the fact that they are cheating on you.
#11 The Wording
If a person is always saying 'trust me,' 'honestly,' or 'I swear,' then you probably shouldn't trust them. There's a 99% chance they are lying and just want to look like they are telling a true story. Believe me!
#12 The Mix Ups
Changes in how they use verb tenses are common for liars. They may end up making words up from the moment they speak, and this may lead them to start using present tenses and not past tenses at the appropriate times. They'll avoid talking about the past that you are questioning or want to discuss. Sometimes they even switch pronouns, nouns, and adjectives and say things like 'I was with her' then 'I was with them.' A story that starts out with 'I was with Julie at the mall' may end up being 'I went for a walk with Jim' before the conversation is over.
That is how you catch a lying cheat!
