One of the biggest decisions for most brides-to-be is who to ask to be in her wedding party.
But for Christine Quinn, the decision to ask her 89-year-old grandma to be in the bridal party was a no-brainer. She considers Elizabeth “Nana Betty” Geovern one of her best friends.
"She asked me about 10 times, âAre you sure?' and âWhy would you want an old lady in your bridal party?'" Quinn told the Huffington Post. "A few times she even said, âAll of your bridesmaids are young and pretty, why would you want me?'"
"While she doesn't live that close, we have continually made it a point to spend as much time together as possible," she said. "She just has an amazing sense of humor and outlook on life that I strive to emulate every day. Everyone loves her."
Quinn said that she told her grandmother she didn't have to do anything she didn't want to do including wearing the same dress as the other two bridesmaids and that she could change her mind at any time, so Nana Betty agreed to join the bridal party.
And not only did she join, she held her own with the bridesmaids and groomsmen!
Nana got on the party bus with the rest of the wedding party instead of âgoing home to rest' but did not tell my mom (her daughter)," the bride said. "She also danced the entire night away, including an adorable moment when she and my husband's grandmother, Bellsie, danced together. It was amazing.
One moment I remember clearly and really resonated with me was when she said, âAre you happy?'" Quinn said, "to which I responded yes, and that I am fortunate to have my entire family with me as I marry the love of my life cliché but so true.
She said, âGood, that's all I need to hear. Let's get this show on the road.'
