#1 He's A Crook

Crows are insanely smart birds. They remember people, organize more effectively than a Trapper Keeper, and adapt to their surroundings almost flawlessly. This particular crow recently rose to fame when the heartwarming story about his life went viral, but he was in danger of becoming a jailbird after his cheeky antics took a criminal turn.

#2 Canuck The Crow

We're talking about Canuck the Crow, a Canadian bird known for his frequent run-ins with police and long wrap sheet, which includes stealing knives and keys and dismantling police patrol car equipment.

#3 Tampering With A Crime Scene

This crafty bird was apparently intent on tampering with a crime scene in Vancouver. Imagine the shock of the officer who saw an essential piece of evidence literally flying away from the scene of a crime in the beak of a bird. Canuck, a locally famous bird with its own 13,000 fan Facebook page, swooped toward a crime scene on Tuesday before picking up a knife and flying off.

#4 Scene Of The Crime

Police had responded to a car fire in a McDonald's parking lot when they were confronted by a man with a knife, CBC reported. Shots were fired and the man was arrested. He was later taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police then taped off the scene in order to gather evidence.

#5 Spotted By An Eye Witness

That's when Canuck, who lives in the area, apparently decided it was time to check out the scene. Mike Howell, a local newspaper reporter, said he saw a crow arrive at the scene and pick up an object before flying off.

#6 Life Of Crime

Howell couldn't believe his eyes. "A cop chased it for about 15 to 20 feet, and then the crow dropped it and took off," he told CBC News. "It was really strange. In my 20-plus years reporting from crime scenes, I've never seen anything like that crow trying to take a knife. It was almost like the bird was working with the criminals"

#7 An Eye For Expensive Items

Howell said he also saw the bird try to "make off with a pair of eyeglasses in the lot and steal gear belonging to a television camera operator." This feathered felon certainly seemed to have a taste for expensive items as well as crucial pieces of evidence.

#8 Canuck Is Famous For Being A Rescue Raised By Humans

Canuck, who wears a recognizable red tag around one of his legs, was cared for by Shawn Bergman after the bird fell from its nest. The baby bird was rescued by his landlord at the time and hand raised. He became attached to Bergman and even became a local celebrity after he began stealing items from nearby neighbors and bringing them home to his adopted father.

#9 Just like A Criminal He Leads A Double Life

He says that Canuck has been known to pinch keys, cigarettes, and pens. "He loves pens," he said. "He even brought back a pill bottle with two joints in it one time." He said Canuck has a double life and lives half the time with crows and the other half with humans. Bergman found him bringing lots of shiny gifts to his friends, including several knives and assorted silverware, so stealing the crime evidence is no surprise.

#10 Troubles With The Law

He tried to destroy a Vancouver cop's computer in April, getting as far as the F6 key before eventually giving up and flying out the window. Police do not plan on charging him for tampering with evidence and evading law enforcement, but they want to warn him not to push his luck. Police say "he's lucky he is such a high-profile bird with a lot of friends or we'd throw the book at him."
