Derek explains the diet plan, saying that it was started by a dentist named Weston Price who in the 1930s studied the health benefits of eating more raw foods, including meats. He studied the Native Americans and a few of them who lived on a guts-and-grease diet. He found people in primitive communities were much healthier than we are today.

#4 His Daily Meals Are All Raw Meats And The Blood Of Animals

He has raw meat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, whether he is at home in Kentucky, over at friends or even out to dinner. He had some stomach problems at first, but that was because his body was adjusting to his new way of life. ‘Maybe what you get at first is a little diarrhea, but that's just your digestive system adapting. After the first week, I felt absolutely great, and I never went back'.

#5 His Favorite Raw Meat Is Lamb Because Of It's Sweet Taste

For nearly six years he has eaten nothing but RAW meats. His main dish is lamb. "It's just easy to go out to farms, barter over a decent price, slaughter it, and throw it in the truck. It's a lot harder to deal with beef because it's a lot bigger. Pigs are kind of a no-no because they shoot them full of hormones and raise them on grains, which promote bacterial growth," he says.

#6 He Says He Avoids Diseases And Pathogens Because The Fresh Meat Is High In Vitamins

To avoid disease and scurvy, he says that the organ meat of the animal actually contains vitamin C. And the thing about vitamin C is that you need more of it in a high-carbohydrate diet, but if you're eating carnivorously, there's enough in the animal flesh. So I just eat the organ meat and the connective tissue and everything else.

His girlfriend, Joanne, is a VEGETARIAN! Well, more omnivore with vegan tendencies. She has tried Derek's diet.. "we had lamb tenderloins once and they were delicious, but I'm a vegetarian for compassionate reasons," she said.

#8 He Now Is A Butcher And Kills And Prepares His Own Meals

Derek recently became a butcher so he could be more certain of what it was he was eating. He prefers wild animals to those kept in pens and shot full of hormones. His freezer is full of Shetland sheep, chicken, turkey, beef, moose, and even animals skulls, which he cracks open and dries out the insides and eats as a snack. He has been known to eat sun dried road kill on occasion.
