#1 Just minding its own business: The huntsman is seen standing still

Filmed in Queensland, Australia, the footage opens with a large huntsman spider standing still on a wall.

Whoever is filming it slowly edges closer to the venomous arachnid.

A few seconds in, it appears that the camera operator is positioned perfectly for a staring content with the creepy-crawly, a member of the sparassidae family.

But then they get a nasty shock.

The spider quickly scuttles forward, heading straight for the camera.

And clearly scared, the person behind the lens lets out a yelp, shouting, "Oh s***!" as they appear to fall backwards, toppling over.

#2 Run! The large spider scuttles quickly towards the camera, giving the operator a fright

The 10-second clip was posted on LiveLeak yesterday and has since gone viral , amassing thousands of views.

It was shared with the caption: "Nope, nope and nope, damn thing is nearly as big as my hand/ Everything in the Land Down Under just wants to kill you or eat you."

While some viewers sympathised with the camera operator, others ridiculed them for their animated display of terror.

#3 This scary spider video may well make you jump - especially if you're an arachnophobe.

One wrote: "Omg too creepy dude. If i seen that in my house, i'd flip bananas."

Another added: "Come on these guys are cool as. They don't hurt ya. They get rid of flies."

Generally, huntsman spiders are not aggressive towards humans, although they do have a habit of hiding in shoes and curtains, often giving people a fright.

Their venom is non-toxic to humans, but their bite can inflict pain.
