The Barbie movie has quickly become part of the zeitgeist of this era and it's been hard to avoid unless you've been living under a very not pink rock.

This Redditor however was hit by the movie's presence a little too hard claiming that he had been broken up with because of it.

When OP and his girlfriend started dating it was all sunshine and rainbows until Barbie came along and ruined it all.

He said that the two had become physically and emotionally distant these past few weeks and had cancelled a road trip that they were meant to go on.

Until suddenly his girlfriend decided to pack up and leave. She said that she was unhappy with the relationship and didn't like the 'quality of his compliments'.

OP thought he had finally found the one but alas it wasn't to be.

In a later edit, he clarified that he didn't force her to meet his emotional needs when she refused to go on the trip to his parents.

He also said that he was unclear on what her expectations were from the relationship until it was too late.

He also felt that there wasn't enough communication from her as to what her problems with the relationship were.

OP felt that he had held up his end of the bargain and wasn't sure what she expected from the relationship.

OP finally admitted after some comments that perhaps Barbie wasn't entirely to blame for the relationship breaking down.

He also admitted that only a few months of dating and then moving in together was perhaps not a great idea.

Commenters wondered if rushing into the relationship was what caused some panic on her end.
