A tweet showing a picture of an "I Quit" sign over the drive-thru mic has gone massively viral and sparked a huge online debate regarding the working situation at McDonald’s.
User @greatapedad was just going down to his local maccies to grab a bite when he was faced with a rather inconvenient but super iconic scene.
In a picture that he uploaded to Twitter, he revealed that his desire for breakfast food was quenched when faced with this sign at the drive-thru mic.
A paper taped to the prompter said, “We are closed because I am quitting and I hate this job.”
One person with such power needs to be recognized and the internet thought the same.
The original poster went to ask the McDonald’s manager the next day who revealed that the poster was put up by the night shift worker who quit in the middle of the night.
“I spoke with the staff at this McDonald’s today. It turns out the sign was put there by a night shift manager who suddenly quit, and it was left up overnight.”
The answer however just brought with it more questions. Was McDonald’s really expecting just one employee to handle an entire night shift on their own?
“Wait, did they seriously have a shift of ONE PERSON at an entire mcdonalds such that one person quitting mid-shift shut it all down?” was one reply.
Steve D made a joke about their milkshake machines never working and lo and behold OP delivered with yet another picture from earlier that week.
People started speculating that soon humans wouldn’t even be required to operate drive-thrus.
“Thus begins the next great cycle of automation. I give it three years tops before we start having McDonald’s being able to operate without any employees at all.”
One user was all for it when OP replied, "The first sign was put up because the monitor wasn't working though"
Another user realised that the speaker was basically being used as a poster board.
“I just love the fact there are several different signs all taped over each other, peak workplace passive aggression.” The one just behind the “I quit” sign has “inconvenience” clearly visible—perhaps as in “sorry for the inconvenience.”
JJ Gar really tried by taking McDonald’s side but was soon shut down by this person who justly said that exploitation is never cool.
We’re just wondering why OP keeps taking pictures of this specific speaker.
