MaryAnn Parisi, a West Haven, Connecticut, mom, was fed up with bullies picking on her son. In a now-viral Facebook post from Jan. 11, she explained why it's not only harmful to pick on Michael, but also why you should never assume you know anything about anyone:
"Michael was born at 26 weeks. Just over 3 months premature," she explains. "He spent the first 3 months of his life fighting to survive. Shunts, blood transfusions, etc. His mother left him 3 months later. He has survived failure to thrive and numerous other health issues to become the strong, healthy boy he is."

His early life traumas translated to the physical attributes bullies pick on him for yet "he forgives and honestly, he forgets too. There is not one judgemental bone in his body," according to his mom. More than 1,700 people have shared Parisi's post to date.
Parisi told FOX 61 Michael had been very upset lately by people at school, but that he is "most definitely resilient." She also said she's glad her post is getting attention because if "this helps in some small or large way, then it has done so much more than allowing an angry and hurt mom [to] vent."
