It was a normal day at the San Cristobal School in Rosario, Argentina. The pupils were working away as their teacher watched over them. Ignacio Gabrielli, age 6, was one of those children. He'd always been a curious and friendly child, but then something unexpected happened.

Nacho, as his friends and family like to call him, was suddenly worried. The teacher noticed that he seemed to be searching for something and approached him. The boy then said something that touched her heart. Nacho had lost one of his teeth and couldn't find it. He was clearly worried that the "Ratón Pérez" (Pérez the Mouse, the South American tooth fairy) wouldn't be able to leave him a present. If there was no proof that the tooth fell out, Nacho would not be able to get a gift. How sad! But his teacher came up with a plan and wrote the following message:

"I hereby certify that the child, Ignacio Gabrielli, lost his tooth at this school. The tooth was very loose so it probably fell between the patio tiles.

This certificate is to be delivered to Mr. Ratón Pérez. I would like to take this opportunity to say that Ignacio is a good boy and never lies."

Nacho's teacher decided to certify that the tooth had fallen out so that Pérez the Mouse had the proof he needed. There was no way the little rodent could deny it and not leave a gift when the note had the school's official seal and her signature on it!

What a sweet idea. Nacho was reassured that the mouse wouldn't forget him - and forget him he certainly did not. Ignacio received his presents as soon as the Ratón Pérez got the written proof. This story just made my day. It is beautiful that teachers take such good care of their students. These sorts of gestures stay in childrens' memories forever.
