In March 2017, Jonny Grant, a Navy SEAL who had served three overseas deployments since 2007 and then worked as a combat medic instructor, was severely injured as a passenger in a car accident.
This Navy SEAL Being Nursed Back To Health By His Wife Will Give You All The Feels.
In true Navy SEAL fashion, he was on his way to the scene of a fire to offer medical aid when the crash happened.
He suffered a traumatic brain injury in the wreck and was forced into a coma.
Even before he woke up, it was clear that he would face a long road to recovery.
The first flutter of his eyelids was huge, but even months later, he still hadn't regained the use of his legs, and he still couldn't talk.
However, Jonny had a secret weapon at his side: his wife, Laura.
Laura has taught Pilates for 14 years, so she's been heavily involved in his physical therapy. It's hard, grueling, emotional work, but throughout it all, they've kept the Navy SEAL motto at the front of their minds: "The only easy day was yesterday."
Jonny has made huge improvements with Laura's help.
He has gotten stronger, but as Laura notes, his biggest challenge remains speaking. On her GoFundMe page, she explained that he's working with a speech therapist and learning some sign language as well.
He's even up and out of his wheelchair, taking painful, tentative steps — all with Laura there, helping him along.
It's an amazing thing to see, and it gets you right in the feels. Check out their incredible relationship in the video below!
