It's difficult not to see stray animals roaming the streets. Even more so if they are mere pups whimpering for aid. Wandi, a mystery dog who dropped from the skies in Wandiligong, Australia, was one such case. This tiny furball, however, turns out to be a 100% uncommon Australian alpine dingo.
Wandi was discovered in a family's garden after they heard him moan. Aside from being adorable, the puppy also had fox-like facial traits. As a result, his family rushed him to Alpine Animal Hospital for DNA testing to establish his breed.
Meanwhile, Dr. Rebekah Day, the veterinarian who visited Wandi, discovered some markings on the puppy's back. These markings were most likely caused by an eagle's claws, according to her. So it's possible that an eagle carried Wandi and dropped him from the sky.
Fortunately, the Australian Dingo Foundation learned about the puppy and requested that he be relocated to their refuge. The foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of wild canids.
As a result, Wandi's finding and confirmation of his breed is a blessing to the foundation. This canine classification is mostly found in Australia, where there are three types: alpine, desert, and tropical.
Unfortunately, the alpine is the most endangered of the three. This is mostly owing to habitat loss, poaching, and interbreeding. Unfortunately, domestic dog-dingo hybrids have begun to supplant purebreds in many regions of Australia.
Wandi has grown so much since being brought to the Sanctuary.
As a result, the foundation's goal is to provide Wandi with a secure haven. More than that, they hope he will become an important component of their breeding program. Meanwhile, Wandi has an Instagram page set up by the charity.
