TikTok Slams Man Over Controversial Method Of Stopping People Walking On His Lawn
On 14th October 2021
This video of a man installing sprinklers in his lawn that drenches people if they walk over has sparked an intense debate on social media. Many people called the punishment cruel while others laud the man for his innovative idea to keep people off his property. Watch the video and in your opinion who is at the right here?
Many people love to keep their lawn tidy and usually take pride in maintaining it well. People generally believe that the front lawn gives neat look to the house and are more sensitive about it.
However, TikTok user Thomas Lyons (@tgunz81) posted security footage of taking revenge on people walking on his lawn and his footage didn't exactly sit well with the people on the Internet.
Thomas posted footage from a security camera that points directly onto the lawn, and the on-screen text reads: “when people won’t stop cutting across your lawn…”
The video then shows a trespasser walking across the lawn, however, only when she gets into a certain radius, her movement triggers a sprinkler alarm which completely drenches her and she is seen running off in a panic.
Then another video clip shows two kids trying to pass the lawn only to be attacked by the sprinkler and getting soaked.
The majority of the TikTokers enjoyed the video footage because of the amusing upbeat music added to the video.
The video has gone viral since and has been viewed more than a million times.
The most important part, the video has sparked a debate as to whether it is ethical to drench strangers like this and that too only for walking over the lawn.
Many people disagreed with spraying people with water for crossing the lawn, and argued that it’s “just grass.”
One person wrote: “Girl, let those kids go home a minute faster.”
“Never understood why walking on the lawn is such a bad thing. It’s grass,” another person said.
Someone else added: “It’s just grass. Chill.”
“These are school kids, you could just put a stone path [on the lawn], it’s just grass, kindness means so much more,” a fourth person replied.
Many people argued that it is his lawn and he can very well do whatever necessary to keep it safe.
One person wrote: “I LOVE this level of pettiness. It’s your lawn so do as you wish.”
“I don’t understand. I was raised never to walk in someone’s yard, especially a strangers,” another person said.
Someone else wrote: “Y’all saying it’s just grass okay ???? It’s just water.”
“Y’all are mad for no reason. This is THEIR yard. Walking on it can kill the grass and there are sidewalks for a reason,” a fourth person replied.
As the debate got intense, the OP posted another video to show what would happen before the sprinkler was installed.
The video shows many people casually strolling or walking past the lawn and Thomas patiently and nicely asking them to not do so but in vain.
