Donald Trump has threatened legal action against comedian Trevor Noah after comments made about him during the Grammys sparked a furious response.

Trevor Noah hosted the Grammys on February 1, and throughout the ceremony he made several jokes aimed at Trump. While many of the comments passed without reaction, one specific remark appeared to strike a nerve.

Just before presenting the award for Song of the Year, Noah referenced Trump’s repeated public interest in Greenland and made a pointed joke linking him to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Noah said: "Song of the Year — that is a Grammy that every artist wants almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense because Epstein's island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton."

Bill Clinton has previously denied having any knowledge of Epstein’s criminal behavior, despite acknowledging that he knew Epstein before his death.

Ghislaine Maxwell has also claimed that Bill Clinton was a friend of hers, not Epstein’s, and has denied that Clinton was involved in any of Epstein’s crimes.

Trump has repeatedly denied any involvement in Epstein’s crimes and has sought to distance himself from the disgraced financier.

Despite those denials, the joke appeared to anger Trump enough that he suggested he would pursue legal action against Noah and said he planned to “have fun” doing so.

In a lengthy response, Trump took to Truth Social to lash out at the comedian, using sharp language and personal insults.

He wrote: "The Grammy Awards are the WORST, virtually unwatchable! CBS is lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer. The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards."

"Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!! I can't speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight's false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media."

"Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. It looks like I'll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$."

"Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I'm going to have some fun with you!"
