On Wednesday night, UFC President Dana White confirmed Holly Holm’s next fight at UFC 200 on July 9 at the new MGM-AEG Arena in Las Vegas would be against Rousey. The news comes despite reports that Holm wishes to fight Miesha Tate instead.
UFC Has Announced The Rematch Date For Ronda Rousey VS Holly Holm
#1 It seemed Holm wants to fight even sooner.
Rousey took the time off after the last knockout to recuperate from the injuries. In an interview with ESPN, she opened up about the shock defeat.
"I got hit in that first round I cut my lip open and knocked a couple of my teeth loose. I was out on my feet from the very beginning. It was like a dumbed-down dreamy version of yourself making decisions I was just trying to shake myself out of it. I kept saying to myself, ‘You're okay, keep fighting. You're okay, keep fighting' I just feel so embarrassed. How I fought after that is such an embarrassing representation of myself. I wasn't even f*cking there."
#2 Despite the former champion saying it could be six months until she can eat an apple again, White insisted the MMA fighter will be ready for the rematch!
"I'm not sure Ronda will be ready for a July fight She took a severe beating and I don't think it's in her best interest to take the next fight so fast. They told me she's been ready and cleared."
It doesn't sound like the UFC president is taking the manager's opinion into consideration. He told reports in a sarcastic tone:
"We're real concerned with his opinion."
