A woman has reported a heartbreaking incident where her beloved dog was tragically killed after a package was thrown over her gate.

Naria Harutjunjan, residing in North Hills, Los Angeles, was at home with her two cherished dogs, Cookie and Lulu, when she decided to let them out into the garden for some playtime.

However, just after 5:00 pm, she noticed that both dogs were hovering around the front gate.

She decided to bring Cookie back inside the house.

But when she returned to fetch Lulu, she found a devastating scene.

She claims that a package, which she described as heavy as a microwave, had landed on top of Lulu.

In an interview with CBS, the distraught Californian stated:

"I took the package and I saw my dog, she couldn't move anymore."

The incident was caught on a neighbor’s CCTV system, which recorded the delivery driver approaching the gate with the parcel before tossing it over.

The footage further shows the UPS driver pausing and squatting, as if peering under the gate.

It seemed he might have heard a noise and was checking to see what it was. After this, he returned to his vehicle and drove away.

UPS has acknowledged the incident. A representative told the New York Post that they were aware of what had happened and that an investigation would be initiated.

Harutjunjan added: "My neighbors were there. They assisted me in getting the dog to the Mission Hills clinic. But by then, they said she had passed away."

She also mentioned that the UPS delivery driver, who was delivering an Amazon package, did not ring her doorbell or knock.

Instead, he chose to throw the package, which she estimated to weigh as much as three-and-a-half bowling balls.

Lulu was a recent addition to Harutjunjan’s family, having been rescued just last year.

She recalled a tender moment with Lulu before letting her outside, saying to the broadcaster on Thursday: "Yesterday, before I went to let her out, I took her and I said,

"'I don't know, Lulu, why but I love you so much. That was the last time."

Harutjunjan is now considering legal options and has reached out to her attorney to discuss potential action against UPS, the delivery driver, and Amazon.

A spokesperson for UPS commented on the matter, stating: "We're aware of the situation in North Hills.

"We are certainly concerned and have been in contact with the customer. We are investigating and will take appropriate action."
