Medical professionals will conduct a formal analysis of the presumed remains, adding an important layer to the investigation.

Authorities are currently in the preliminary stages of investigating the cause of the disaster, and the US Coast Guard's Marine Board of Investigation (MBI) will transport the gathered evidence to a US port for additional analysis and testing.

Captain Jason Neubauer, the Chair of the MBI, emphasized the extensive work that lies ahead in comprehending the circumstances that led to the catastrophic event and in implementing measures to prevent a similar tragedy from occurring in the future.

In a statement, Captain Neubauer highlighted the need for a thorough investigation and expressed the commitment to uncovering the underlying factors behind the Titan's demise.

Neubauer continued: "I am grateful for the coordinated international and interagency support to recover and preserve this vital evidence at extreme offshore distances and depths."

Newly released images on 28 June showcased fragments of the vessel being retrieved from the water following the discovery of a debris field by search teams on 23 June. The visuals provide a glimpse into the recovery efforts as the wreckage is carefully brought to the surface.

During the time of the submersible's disappearance, it was initially reported that there might have been a limited emergency oxygen supply of just 96 hours aboard the craft. Tragically, this crucial timeframe elapsed, adding to the urgency of the situation and the challenges faced by the passengers.

Following the news of the ship's disappearance, a multinational search-and-rescue operation was launched, encompassing efforts from various nations. Sadly, the operation came to a somber conclusion when officials declared that the submersible likely imploded, resulting in the instantaneous loss of all individuals on board.

Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford expressed skepticism regarding the recovery of human remains during the search, considering the circumstances surrounding the implosion.

She said: "When you have any sort of explosion or implosion, there are remains or traces of remains."

"There is a possibility but given the environment that this happened in it is highly unlikely that they will find remains."

"Even on land you have animal activity, and in an expansive ocean, so many animals and creatures, and the pressure down there."

"I think it is unlikely to find remains, certainly in whole parts. It would be very difficult to ID the remains given the conditions in which the implosion happened - and it will be difficult to ascertain who they belonged to."

"Their bodies would have sustained extensive thermal damage and blunt force trauma from the implosion. Those are things we know as fact."

The individuals on board at the time of the incident have been identified as Stockton Rush, the CEO and co-founder of OceanGate; Hamish Harding, a British billionaire; Paul-Henry Nargeolet, a French diver and Titanic expert; and Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood.
