The fashion mogul has shared the simple habits she credits for her age-defying look
Vera Wang has once again left people doing a double take after stepping out at 76 and looking far younger than many fans expected.
The fashion designer has spent decades shaping red carpet style for other people, but this time it was her own appearance that became the main talking point.
Of course, fans had the usual questions. Is there a portrait hidden in an attic somewhere? Has she somehow found the fountain of youth? According to Wang, the real answer is much more ordinary than that.
Wang drew attention after arriving on the red carpet in a barely-there crop top and trousers, showing off a toned figure that quickly had people talking online.
"Nobody should stop being themselves just cuz they're older. I think this is sweet," praised one social media user.
"Love her.... enviable ageing!" added another, while one person summed up the reaction by saying: "She looks 60 ish not 74, an impressive feat."
Another fan reacted with the kind of comment many people were probably thinking: "Homegirl just went and unsubscribed from ageing"
Someone else wanted more practical answers and joked: "Drop the routine! I assume magic is involved? How much eye of newt? I'm running to the store," Honestly, it is hard to blame them.
Wang has never seemed too bothered by the attention around her looks. She has also been open about what she believes helps her stay feeling young, and her answer is not the strict wellness plan people might expect.
Why fans keep asking about her routine
Part of the reaction comes from how relaxed Wang seems about aging. She does not talk about her look as if it comes from one miracle product, one intense diet, or a complicated list of rules.
That is probably why people find her answer so interesting. A lot of celebrity beauty routines sound expensive or impossible to copy, but Wang’s comments are much more casual.
She has pointed to work, rest, staying out of the sun, and even fast food, which is not exactly the kind of routine people expect from someone who keeps going viral for looking younger than her age.
Wang says her routine includes 'work, sleep, a vodka cocktail, not much sun', along with eating McDonald's.
Now, plenty of people stay out of the sun and enjoy McDonald's without ending up looking like Vera Wang, so there may still be a little mystery left there.
She told Page Six about her habits, saying she sometimes eats McDonald's every day for two weeks before getting tired of it and moving on to another fast food place.
McDonald's is not the only fast food treat she has mentioned either. Wang has also said she enjoys Dunkin' Donuts, with one favorite being 'a jelly donut, but it's cream inside, vanilla cream'.
She also likes 'the pink with sprinkles, too.' So yes, her routine somehow includes donuts as well, which feels both surprising and a little unfair.
Still, Wang does not present those foods as some kind of strict beauty secret. From the way she explains it, they are just part of a wider routine that also includes staying busy and not obsessing over every small choice.
Bad news for anyone who treats Diet Coke as a fridge essential, though, because Wang said she quit it six years ago and now drinks water instead.
That change was not easy for her. She admitted giving it up was the 'hardest thing she ever gave up', which is probably more relatable than most age-defying beauty advice.
Wang also said she goes through 'phases' with food, so her diet is not only fast food and donuts. She tries to keep some balance, even if her favorite meals do not always sound like a typical health plan.
"I like sashimi with brown rice and vegetables, Chinese steamed broccoli with chicken and rice, or the artichoke salad or fish," she explained.
"At one point I was eating a slice of Ray's pizza every day, and I never gained a pound on it. It's not a bad thing if you squeeze out that excess oil. It's so filling."
Even with all the food talk, Wang has said the biggest part of staying youthful has less to do with what she eats and more to do with how she lives. For her, work has played a huge role.
Her real answer is staying busy
That part makes sense when you look at Wang’s career. She has built one of the most recognizable names in fashion, and her work has kept her close to weddings, red carpets, design, and pop culture for decades.
For Wang, being busy does not seem to mean chasing youth in a panic. It sounds more like staying active, engaged, and interested in what she is doing.
That may be why her routine stands out. She is not selling it as a perfect formula. She is simply saying that work, sleep, limited sun, and a few personal comforts have helped her feel like herself.
"Basically, I've worked my whole life, so it's really been about work. I think work keeps you young and stimulated. I work very long hours, I've raised two daughters. I think keeping busy is the best antidote [for] good health."
Wang also said the key is not turning youth into an obsession: "I never thought about going way out of my way to preserve my youth in a fanatical, obsessive way."
So, while most of us may not end up looking like Vera Wang after a donut and a McDonald's run, we can at least appreciate that her answer is far more fun than another strict routine.
