Here are our favorite traveling feline stories that are guaranteed to make you smile.
Mr. Fancy
Sometimes animals can just sense a good person. That was the case with Mr. Fancy. The long-haired tabby stray showed up in the yard of the Bosche family in Lucedale, Miss. early last year. After feeding him, Mr. Fancy came back to the house each night for a month. He was wary at first but was waiting on the porch each day after about a week.
Eventually, the family made the decision to take him to a local animal shelter
Bosche said she felt uncertain about taking the cat to the shelter. She said "I cried the five miles back to my house." Apparently she had good reason to. According to the shelter, he escaped 20 minutes after he arrived.
It took a month of navigating busy streets
but Mr. Fancy finally made it back to the family that had been so kind to him. One morning Bosche heard her husband talking to someone in the kitchen. Confused, she walked in to see who it was. To her surprise it was Mr. Fancy. He ran up to her, meowing the whole way, when she entered the room. Bosche refused to let him go again, and now Mr. Fancy has a permanent home.
Emily the Cat
This curious feline holds the distinction of truly being a world traveler! Her owners Lesley and Donny McElhiney say that she wandered onto a truck to Chicago inside a container of paper bales, unbeknownst to everyone.
That container of paper bales was then shipped to Belgium
then France where she was discovered by employees. Luckily she was wearing tags, and was transported back to her owners by Continental Airlines.
Howie
The Hicks family wanted their family cat to be cared for while they were on an extended vacation, so he stayed with relatives who lived over 1,000 miles away. However, when they returned from their trip, they were told that Howie ran away and couldn't be located. The Hicks were devastated, and didn't think Howie had the skills to survive in the wild in the Australian heat.
However, a year later, their daughter found a mangy, starving cat at their house
Guess who it was? Howie! He had travelled over 1,000 miles of the Australian outback to get back home!
Misele
Sometimes our feline friends can sense our hurting even when nowhere near us. Such is the case of Misele, the French cat who's unbelievably loyal to his owner, Alfonse Mondry. After 82-year-old Mondry was taken to a hospital, Misele decided she wanted to be nearby.
Misele walked across cattle fields, forests, and highways in order to be reunited with her owner
Once she got to the hospital, she walked right in the front door and found Mondry. The nurses discovered Monday resting with Misele purring on his lap.
