Bree Rowand and her husband Luke may seem like a typical married couple, but there's something missing.

It's their daughter, Kylie, who is with them in spirit. But it doesn't matter to these parents because they'd rather she be there at their side alive and well. Sadly, that isn't the case.

At 19 months, Kylie was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma, a deadly form of cancer.

The child battled her illness for months, and not once did the two loving parents give up.

So where did Bree get her motivation to fight this cruel twist of fate her daughter was dealt with?

She was motivated by a trailer from a Julia Roberts film called "Secret In Their Eyes" in which a detective is devastated when she arrives at the scene of her daughter's murder. The trailer is emotional and it sends the protagonist on a quest to find and capture her daughter's killer. By the end of the trailer, Bree admitted that she was balling her eyes out.

Meanwhile, Kylie's condition continued to worsen and there didn't seem to be an end, at least not a positive one to this 14-month battle.

But people weren't willing to give up so easily. So they created a Facebook page called "Prayers For Kylie, God's Little Warrior" where people from all over could show their support.

When something this tragic happens, you need a lot of emotional and financial support.

Fortunately, Luke and Bree got plenty of both through the online community. In fact, over 200,000 people joined Kylie's page and provided supportive comments and donations to help the family out during this difficult time.

Despite every possible treatment available, Kylie passed away on February 7th, 2015.

She hadn't even made it to her third year of life, but already the cancer took up most of her time on Earth. The thought of that made the pain almost unbearable for Luke and Bree.

Although, Kylie's life may have been brief, it made a huge impact on her mom and dad.

Despite their pain, Bree and Luke wanted to help other families going through a similar situation, using the money they'd gotten through donations by the 200,000 plus members across 47 counties.

Although Kylie wasn't murdered by a human being, Bree calls the cancer that took away her daughter a murderer.

So like Julia Roberts in the film "Secret In Their Eyes", Bree set out to hunt down Kylie's "killer" and bring it to justice, no matter what.

In only a few short months, Bree and Luke have managed to raise enough money to help other parents out.

$400,000 is a lot of money after all. So the couple are planning on giving it to families who need help paying for the treatment of their cancer-ridden children.

Even though Kylie is no longer with them in the physical sense, she's still doing a lot for people.

Her parents are on a campaign that will make the child's suffering and eventual death not be in vain.

Even in their fight to put an end to cancer, Bree and Luke have found a brand new reason to live.

Bree became pregnant and it turned out of be a little baby boy, which they named Lucas Kyler.

One thing the couple plans on doing is telling Lucas about his brave little sister Kylie and her struggle with cancer.

After all, she may be gone but she'll never be forgotten and she's got a huge legacy that the family plans to maintain.

Bree's fight continues through a series of blog posts to raise awareness and money.

In the blog titled, "A Diseased Murdered my Daughter, and I Want Justice", Bree discusses the torture her daughter underwent through the use of drugs, treatment and the agony caused by the illness she suffered from.

When it comes to cancer, there's only one form of justice, and the couple intend to get it.

Cancer treatment can seriously weaken a family's finances, leaving them unable to pay their rent and mortgage. So Bree's fight will not only support these families financially but also help with cancer research as well. Death is unfortunately a part of life, and as Bree and Luke have learned, it's the living who must stay behind to carry on and fight the good fight. Yes, they've experienced the greatest loss that no parent should ever face, but they've also found a goal and a commitment to put an end to the silent killer known as cancer forever.
