#1 This Mom Wanted To Adopt

She just loves children and was unable to conceive. That's when she decided to adopt. She wanted to prove that adoption was a better choice than abortion. But she didn't want to adopt just any baby. She wanted an African American baby instead of a caucasian. She and her husband had decided before they even tied the knot that they would adopt one child.

#2 The Family Was Stared At When They Went Out

Instead of the one child, they instead adopted two from a local adoption center, one boy, and one girl. People didn't understand how two white parents, Aaron and Rachel Halbert, could have black children. They met with racism and judgement in their home state of Mississippi.

#3 Then They Had Twins

Aaron and Rachel never planned on having any more children, but then something unexpected happened. Rachel heard that embryos were being destroyed or donated to science for research, so she stepped in to help. With the help of National Embryo Donation Centers, she had two African-American embryos implanted into her to have twins. But one embryo split into two, meaning Rachel would be having triplets instead of twins! Identical triplets, which is rare.

#4 Living The Dream

Rachel stated, "It's been heartening to see virtually all of our friends and family express overwhelming support for our family and the unusual ways we've built it. In our minds, we are just living out our dream."

"A dream that may not look like the average family, but one that we are thankful could come true in light of our country's history. It's especially encouraging to see so many of our fellow millennial evangelicals now placing a high priority on life, adoption, and multi-ethnic families."

#5 Growing Little Family

The couple and their children are now working as missionaries in Honduras. They are both thrilled to have such a happy family, and Aaron said, "As I look at my growing family, I prefer to take it a step further, daring to hope that our family picture is a little hint of Heaven."
