In films and in the media, it is the man who gets caught cheating. How true is that to real life?
#1
It is often thought that men are more likely to wander when they are in a relationship. Oftentimesthink Ashley Madison and Bill Clintonit is the man who gets caught cheating. But are our beliefs correct?
#2 Women Like To Wander
Of course, people occasionally flirt outside of their relationships. However, a recent study has shown that women are more likely to go for more than just a flirt. Out of 3,000 people who were polled, only nine percent of men said they would cheat. Twenty-five percent of women said they'd cheat on their significant other.
#3 Older Women Especially
Women between the ages of 35 and 40 are more likely than others to wander outside of their relationship. Scientifically, this is no big surprise. Women in their late 30s and 40s have a higher libido than men. This is also why older women tend to go for younger guys around that age.
#4 She’s Into Your Genes
In addition to hormone imbalances due to a change in age (or even giving birth), there is evidence that cheating can actually be genetic. Some women carry a genetic mutation that make them have more of a hormone called vasopressin, which makes them more likely to cheat.
#5 Because Of Oxytocin Levels
Oxytocin is another hormone that lurks within the human body that may push women to cheat. Oxytocin is released throughout the body on different occasions, but it is released strongly during sex. If there is an imbalance in oxytocin levels or vasopressin levels in the female body, it can lead them to have more of a wandering eye.
#6 Cheating Genetics
These same hormone imbalances are what cause women (if they cheat) to emotionally cheat. Women also, biologically, want more sex than men because of the hormones that are in their bodies naturally.
#7 Cheating Because Of Neglect
Libido isn't the only reason women are more likely to cheat. Women reported that they would look for love somewhere else if they were feeling neglected within their relationship. If they feel they are being ignored or they feel undervalued, women are more likely to stray from their boyfriend or girlfriend.
#8 Guys Cheat Too
Obviously, not only women cheat. Guys cheat for different reasons, though. Men often cheat because they need to feel sure of themselves, they may be trying to "get even" or they may have just seen a hot girl (guys are a little more compulsive).
#9 Is It Even?
Other studies argue that the ratio between men and women who cheat is even. A study from Indiana University found that 20 percent of men and 20 percent of women cheat. At one time, guys who cheated used to outnumber women. However, with evolution in relationships taking place, it has either evened out or women have begun to cheat more than men.
#10 Ashley Madison
When the Ashley Madison hack released the names and profiles of millions of men, no one was surprised. This assumption was unfair, however, because we know women cheat at the same ratethey just do it in different ways.
#11 How To Avoid Cheating
You can avoid cheating by doing one very simple thing: You can talk it out with your partner. If you are feeling unhappy in the situation, talk it out. Maybe the two of you can get to the bottom of the problem, or possibly even decide that it is time for things to be over. Either way, it is better than a spur-of-the-moment cheat that could cause irrevocable harm.
