#1 Whoopi Has A Cure For Cramps

Whoopi Goldberg says that she finally has the cure that women have been looking for to handle those unwanted menstrual cramps...Medical marijuana.

#2 She Says Pot Is The Best Thing For Pain

The comedian and host of The View, who often makes comments about her marijuana use on the show, announced her own official medical marijuana business. She joked one the show that she had suffered with the cramps and the only thing that helped her was smoking a joint. She also says that it's the best thing for a headache or back pain as well.

#3 She's Been High For Many Years

Everybody fell in love with the comedic actress in the 1980s with her one-woman stand-up show, then a string of blockbuster films including "Ghost," "Sister Act," and "The Color Purple." She recently told reporters that she was 'high as a kite' while filming every single movie she ever made and that 'it's not harmful, it's a miracle cure.' She claims that her severe pain from injuries, cramps and migraines would have prevented her from working many years ago if not for the use of marijuana.

#4 Whoopi And Maya

Goldberg recently teamed with Maya Elizabeth, founder of Om Edibles and a leading figure in the therapeutic marijuana industry, to found a new company called Whoopi and Maya, a California-based medical marijuana company. The company will focus on cannabis-infused products to help women, though the actress admits that men enjoy them as well. Mayas' Om Edibles has been manufacturing and selling cannabis-laced food items for six years.

#5 A Menstrual Survival Kit

The two women are launching four products initially to help relieve period cramps and discomfort. Sort of a "menstrual survival kit," the products range from edibles, tinctures or liquid extracts, rubs and a bath soak. All are infused with cannabis.

#6 The Rub

Goldberg will serve as chairwoman of the startup, while Elisabeth, who is based in the Bay Area, will be CEO. The two raised $650,000 from friends and family to start the company and the line is already selling very well in California. According to Elisabeth, the products are designed to be "discreet." The tincture, for instance, can be dropped into any beverage, or placed under the tongue. In the cacao, the cannabis flavor can't be tasted, she said, but noted the two products are psychoactive, meaning they may induce a marijuana high while the bath soak and rub are not.

#7 The Initial Product Line

The View co-host said she wanted to create a product for women that was easy to use, provided relief, and wouldn't leave you passed out on your couch. She said smoking a joint is fine, but most people can't smoke up and go to work. She claims it can easily be rubbed on your chest, legs, belly or back to ease discomfort. When you are home you can enjoy a chunk of infused chocolate or take a soothing soak in the bath salts.

#8 She Was Inspired By Her Own Pain

Goldberg has been outspoken about her medical-marijuana use in the past. In 2014, she wrote in 'The Cannabist' about her love of her pot-filled vape pen, which she says gives her relief from glaucoma-related headaches without resorting to eating handfuls of Advil or Asprin every day. She says that is when she got the idea for the company. Claiming that she was "inspired by my own experience from a lifetime of difficult periods and headaches".

#9 A Growing Industry That Celebrities Are Jumping On

Medical or recreational marijuana is legal in 23 states and the District of Columbia, and it's a growing industry. Sales of cannabis in the states it is legal in for recreational use, including Washington, Colorado, and Alaska, exceeded %.6 billion in 2015. Goldberg isn't the first celebrity to launch her own cannabis line, as others are jumping on the bandwagon quickly. Willie Nelson is opening a store of his own in Colorado, Snoop Dog has started a line called Merry Jane, and Bob Marley's son Raffa announced that he is launching a line of products as well. Goldberg says that her line is different because it is designed to ease chronic pain, not get the user high.
