For most guys the idea of getting a vasectomy is terrifying. No one wants anyone one poking at their dangly bits with a sharp instrument. The word "snip" is enough to make any guy shudder. That is why Kimberly Hemperly was so proud of her husband and grateful that he decided to go ahead and have a vasectomy.
Kimberly Hemperly had already had two c-sections with rough recoveries. For her to have a procedure would have been so much harder on her than it would be for him to go in for the big snip snip.
Kimberly is so proud of her husband's decision to get a vasectomy that she decided to throw him a vasectomy party. She was not only proud of her husband, she was also grateful for his decision. She said, "I really just wanted to show my support and appreciation to my husband for doing what he did, because not many men offer to go under the knife."
In order to show her appreciation for her husband, she did what any grateful woman would do and threw him a party. What made the party even better is that it was a genital-themed party. It was full of things like meatballs and sausage to extra tender beef jerky...pun totally intended.
"My husband was surprised by the party. He didn’t know I was planning anything until he got home from work Sunday. He thought it was thoughtful, caring and of course hilarious."
Her small but totally hilarious gesture caused her posts to go viral with over 50,000 shares so far. Maybe this guy's act of chivalry will inspire more men to get the procedure since it is so much less evasive than what a woman has to get in order to be sterilized. After all, a few days of recovery is nothing compared to what a woman would go through surgically or the many years of hormone-altering birth control pills.
Since the party, her husband Jason is doing just fine. He is just starting his recovery and has a bag of frozen peas handy. "He was nervous about it and he’s in some pain, but says it’s not really that big of a deal. Although that could be the pain meds talking!"
Kimberly was not expecting so much attention from her post but seems to be taking it all in stride. She says that her daughter does not really understand what is going on but is sure it will make for a great story to tell when the kids are older. Kimberly also reports that the feedback on her post has been positive. Lots of people were amused by her story which is the reason why Kimberly shared it to begin with.
The custom-made T-shirts were by far the biggest hit. The photographs commemorating the big day will definitely be fun to pull out in the future when telling the story. We wish this family well and pray that the snipping was permanent as there have been stories where the procedure did not take like it was supposed to.
