Sonali took to TikTok to show off her amazing cooking skills and beautiful presentation of food. However, many on TikTok slammed her for destroying feminism and acting like a 1950s housewife. Responding to the trolls, Sonali opened up about her personal life and shared how people are misinterpreting her life and that she and her husband always divide chores 50-50 at home.
Sonali Arora, 26, is famous on TikTok for the infamous meals that she prepares for her husband Nipun.
The 26-year-old started to show off her expertise in preparing mouthwatering meal boxes and lunches for her husband on TikTok.
She expected that people will laud her for her amazing cooking skills and beautiful presentation.
However, the response she received in return was the complete opposite when many on TikTok suggested she’s a ‘1950s housewife’ and others said she’s ‘destroying feminism and women’s liberation.’
The Melbourne-based couple was then forced to address the assumptions that people have already made regarding their personal life, including comments like: ‘I don’t think I have ever packed a lunch for my husband, not his mother’.
Sonali, who works in cybersecurity, says that she and Nipun split chores ’50/50′, and that she chooses to make him meals as she’s able to work from home.
As an independent, career-driven woman, she hit out at the trolls, stating that the stereotyping she’s received is both incorrect and unfair.
‘My husband is the sweetest and most supportive and least misogynistic person to ever be on this planet,’ she said.
‘We have a really good thing going, we divide all the house chores. After I cook he’s cleaning dishes, I don’t touch that. He also is responsible for cleaning all the bathrooms and vacuuming the floors.’
According to Sonali, cooking for Nipun is her ‘love language’, and something that ‘brings [her] joy.’
And even though the internet has shown her a lot of hate for cooking meals for her husband, she has no plans on stopping anytime soon.
‘Hell yeah, I’m going to keep posting them! It actually helps a lot of people in getting diverse ideas for what they can make throughout the day because it is such a difficult thing to think about,’ she said.
‘It’s nice that I’ve tapped in this community of people who are food lovers.’
