In response to Jada Pinkett Smith's revealing book "Worthy," where their seven-year separation was unveiled, Will Smith penned a heartfelt letter, showcasing their enduring commitment.
Will Smith ‘Heartbroken’ And ‘Shocked’ By The Revelations Made By Jada Pinkett Smith
Will Smith expressed his shock and heartbreak at the discoveries in his wife's most recent book.
In her autobiography Worthy, Jada Pinkett Smith makes a number of dramatic revelations regarding her relationship with Will, including the fact that they have been apart for seven years.
The heartbreaking letter was read to Jada during the most recent episode of the On Purpose podcast. It was written to podcaster Jay Shetty.
“I just turned the final page of Worthy,” penned Will, adding: “It is amazing to realize that despite having lived most of my life by your side, I still found myself shocked and stunned and caught off guard, laughing, then inspired, then heartbroken. I was all over the place.”
He continued: “It’s one thing to hear anecdotes at a family barbecue, but it was truly overwhelming to take in your story, potently condensed in this way.”
It appears that Will is not resentful toward his wife despite the backlash from Worthy.
“I know it wasn’t easy to excavate the depths in that way. I applaud and honor you,” he wrote, signing off with: “If I had read this book 30 years ago, I definitely would have hugged you more. I’ll start now. Welcome to the Authors Club. I love you endlessly. Now go get some Merlot and take a rest.”
Given the considerable media attention that the couple and Jada's book have been receiving, his letter is not surprising.
Speaking about her past relationship with rapper August Alsina and the iconic Oscars slap with Chris Rock, the Scream 2 actor went on her press tour.
Even yet, Jada was touched by the open letter and even laughed at a few of its paragraphs.
“He knows I can’t have no Merlot!,” she quipped, adding: “That’s beautiful. That’s why I can’t divorce that joker.”
Tearfully, Jada said: “To hear him say that he would have hugged me more is me hearing him say he would have taken a bit more time to listen and understand.”
The A-Listers don't appear to be planning a divorce, despite their separation.
In a prior interview, Jada made the following confession to NBC's Hoda Kotb: "I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce.”
"We will work through whatever. And I just haven't been able to break that promise."
Worthy was released on October 17th.
In the face of Jada Pinkett Smith's revelations and the emotional rollercoaster they stirred, Will Smith's heartfelt letter illuminated the power of love and forgiveness.
Their story, despite public scrutiny, reflects the strength of a committed partnership.
It's a reminder that every chapter in love's journey, even the tough ones, can be meaningful.
