Will Smith Responds To Jada Pinkett Smith’s Damning Revelations From Her New Memoir
In response to the revelations made by Jada Pinkett Smith in her most recent memoir, Will Smith has finally spoken.
During the promotion of Worthy, wherein she opens up about her relationship with the A-list actor, Jada has been generating quite a stir in the media.
Jada disclosed to Hoda Kotb on Today that she and Will had been apart for seven years, even though they had never formally divorced.
"I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven't been able to break that promise," Jada said.
Hoda asked: "But you still live separately."
Jada confirmed: "We live separately."
The 52-year-old actor responded as follows when asked why she had continued with this unusual arrangement: "I think just not being ready yet.”
"Still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in a partnership, and in regards to how do we present that to people, you know?”
"And we hadn't figured that out."
Will provided an email interview to The New York Times after making her shocking comments.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star claimed that after reading Jada's memoir, he was "kind of woke up" and came to the realization that she is more "resilient, clever, and compassionate than he'd understood."
“When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties," he wrote.
Jada also discussed the controversial 2022 Oscars incident with Hoda, in which Will yelled at Chris Rock, "Keep my wife's name out of your f**king mouth," when the comedian referred to Jada as "G.I. Jane."
Still, the smack wasn't the most startling thing that happened to her.
Rather, she has disclosed that the thing that startled her the most was Will calling her "his wife," something he hadn't done in years.
“First of all, I’m really shocked, because mind you, I’m not there. We haven’t called each other husband and wife in a long time,” she said.
“I’m like, ‘What is going on right now? Keep my wife’s name out of your mouth?’ I’m really worried for Will because I don’t know what’s going on.”
The Smiths' story is one of an unconventional but enduring partnership that challenges societal norms.
It reflects their commitment to understanding, growth, and an evolving connection within their long-lasting relationship.
The revelations from Jada's memoir and the subsequent discussions provide valuable insights into the ever-changing nature of love and the importance of open communication and connection within a committed partnership.
