Winona Ryder Shares Why Jeff Bridges 'Refused' To Kiss Her During An Audition For One Very Good Reason

While it’s easy to imagine hundreds of people lining up just to kiss Winona Ryder, there was actually one A-list celebrity who wouldn’t do it.

Winona Ryder, known for her role in Stranger Things, has been active in the film industry since she was a teenager. She landed her first movie role in Lucas when she was just 15 years old.

Over the years, she has appeared in several notable films, including Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Black Swan. 

She’s set to make a comeback on the big screen in the highly anticipated sequel to Beetlejuice, which has just hit theaters.

Before the release of the sequel, Ryder joined Josh Horowitz on his podcast, Happy Sad Confused, where she took a moment to look back on her lengthy career.

During their conversation, Ryder shared a story about a past audition for the 1993 movie Fearless, where she was set to star opposite Jeff Bridges.

The 52-year-old actress told Horowitz, "Jeff Bridges, who I love, wouldn't kiss me."

She went on to explain why, saying, "I was too young. At the end of the scene he was supposed to kiss me and I was like waiting to be kissed." 

He kissed my forehead. He’s like, ‘You’re, like, my daughter’s age.’ And I was like, 'No!'"

Jeff Bridges is a proud father of three daughters: Isabelle, who is 43, Jessica, who is 41, and Hayley, who is 38.

Although Ryder isn’t exactly the same age as Bridges’ daughters, it’s clear why he felt that way.

In another part of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ryder also talked about her text exchanges with Keanu Reeves.

The two starred together in Bram Stoker's Dracula in 1992 and have remained friends ever since.

Ryder mentioned that she jokingly refers to Reeves as her 'husband' because of a playful notion that they got married while filming Dracula over 30 years ago.

Ryder shared, "On his birthday it's always like 'Happy Birthday, my husband!' and I'll sign it off Noni."

She added, "He's always like 'Hey, wife! Love you KR57'. On each birthday he's like 'KR57' or whatever his age is. He's always done that."

When asked if she would consider appearing in one of Reeves’ John Wick movies, Ryder made it clear that she isn’t eager to jump into that action-packed world.

She admitted she would only agree to do it if it "didn't involve any stunts" because she’s "thinking about her bones."

Given the high-octane nature of all four John Wick films, it seems unlikely that the upcoming fifth installment, which is currently in development, will be any less action-filled. 

So, it looks like Winona might be staying away from those stunts!
