In Tennessee, a kindergartener's school essay describing how her parents argued and she reportedly fired a gun at her father during the argument resulted in her mother's arrest.
Woman Arrested After Daughter Writes Story At School Saying 'Mother Pulled The Gun On Father'
A lady was arrested after her kindergarten-aged daughter shared a story in her class about her mother shooting her father during a quarrel at their house.
On Monday, February 6, Kaydra Johnson, 28, of Tennessee, was apprehended by deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and charged with four counts of reckless endangerment after reportedly firing the gun at their home, which at the time was occupied by the couple's four children.
The couple's young daughter wrote a story in which she described a dispute breaking out between her parents and shots being fired. The story was found by a school counselor at Donelson Elementary, according to police, who were then made aware of the event.
The somewhat horrific story went like this: “Mother and father got into a fight. Mom told him to get out because he was smoking too much. Father hit the mother in the eye. Mother said look what you’ve done.”
“Mother got the gun from under the bed. I was in the living room, and my sisters and brother were in the room. Mother pulled the gun on father and shot three times.”
"The bullets hit the wall. Mother told him to sleep in his car in the driveway and not to come back or she will shoot him again.”
The counselor called the Department of Children's Services and the police were called after seeing the story.
When police arrived at the family's house, they discovered Johnson outside and learned that she had been locked out for an hour.
When deputies entered the house, they found a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old inside, so they had to break down the door. Fortunately, despite being left inside alone for an hour, the children were discovered to be fine.
Two weapons were taken by the police from the house, and they also discovered "several" bullet holes in the walls of the living room, bedroom, and hallway.
When she was arrested, Johnson admitted to shooting her husband at least twice, but she said she did so only after he broke into the house without her permission and began to strike her with his fists and a vacuum cleaner.
Johnson's right eye had minor bruising and a cut, according to the police.
She informed the police that three of her kids were sitting on the couch and one was in the toilet when the rounds were fired.
Her husband escaped the encounter unhurt.
Two of the kids were placed in the care of their grandmother by the Department of Children's Services, and the other two were placed in the care of their aunt.
Johnson was recently let out of custody and will appear before a judge on February 23.
