After finding a woman's two-year-old tampon inside, the doctor was taken aback.

Melanie Galeaz, a woman from Massachusetts in the US, thinks she used a tampon when she was a young adolescent and suffered a variety of health issues that puzzled doctors for the next two years.

Melanie, now 22 years old, used TikTok to convey her painful adolescent experience and to answer several questions from viewers about it. The video has received more than 16 million views.

When asked why she didn't develop toxic shock syndrome during a Q&A session, Mel revealed the health issues she had as a result of the misplaced tampon.

She described the event as not being her "proudest moment."

Mel first believed her symptoms were due to Lyme illness since she had been bitten by a deer tick when she was a small child. The tests were "kind of confusing" as to whether she had Lyme disease even though she had all of the symptoms at the time.

She has been prescribed a course of medication to manage these symptoms, and she was "fine" up until the beginning of her second year of college when she began to experience bodily aches and "some really gross stuff" going "down south."

Mel told viewers: " I went to the doctor, but I didn't really mention the issues happening down south, which I know was my fault."

"But the doctor was really disregarding me and he was being mean."

"I was like 14 and this was really disgusting and embarrassing so I just didn't want to deal with it."

The author continued by saying she had hoped that the drug would help Mel's gynecological problems, which she would cover up when she started to smell awful, even if the prescription helped lessen her discomfort and the signs of Lyme disease.

Two years later, when Mel was a senior in college, she decided to visit a gynecologist since she was still experiencing gynecological issues. And it was at that moment that Mel found a tampon lying horizontally beneath her cervix.

She said: "She cranks me open, looks in, and gasps. ...You don't want to hear someone gasp when they're looking inside you. "

Mel remembered that taking out the tampon was unpleasant since it was already breaking down inside of her.

She also remembered how the doctor found it hard to comprehend that she had been carrying the tampon about for two years.

Mel told the doctor, "I don't know what to tell you," adding that she had been having gynecological issues for two years.

Doctors assumed Mel's body acquired an infection as a result of her missing tampon after discovering it, which would explain the discomfort and problems lower.

In fact, at one time throughout the two years of gynecological troubles, Mel would have had three tampons inside of her, as she admits at the conclusion of her essay. She also claims that when she withdrew one tampon, "another one came out with it."

Mel said: "So I had one in me for two years, one in me for an unknown amount of time, and one in me for like eight hours."
