A British television personality has spoken openly about the shock and confusion she felt after learning the truth about her former husband.

Lynsey Crombie is best known online as the “Queen of Clean,” a nickname she earned through sharing practical cleaning tips, routines, and advice focused on spotless homes.

She first came into the public eye on the British reality TV series Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners, and since then she has built a large and loyal following across social media.

Despite her professional success, Crombie has described parts of her personal life as deeply painful.

The most difficult moment came when she discovered that the father of her two children had committed serious crimes involving minors.

She previously spoke about the discovery during an appearance on This Morning in 2021, explaining that she had been completely unaware of his past before their marriage and only learned the truth months before his arrest.

She said: "I had no idea. I had gone back to visit my parents for a few days, and I just thought, ' What's gone on while I was away?"

While specific details about his conviction were not made public, it was confirmed that he was classified as a “schedule one sex offender.”

This classification means he had been convicted of an offense involving a child.

Lynsey Crombie had no idea of her ex-husband's criminal past ITV

Crombie was 28 weeks pregnant with twin daughters when she found out.

She described reacting by trying to clean everything around her, including her own body, as she struggled to process what she had learned.

In an interview with The Daily Mail, the cleaning expert recalled: "I remember pouring it all over the work surfaces, and over my own hands and arms, and I scrubbed. I scrubbed everything – myself included – with a scourer. I remember thinking that this man had touched me physically and I want all his germs to go."

"I still remember the fumes and how I felt afterwards – not good. It was a coping mechanism rather than normal behaviour, but when you are married to a paedophile…'"

Although Crombie insists she had no knowledge of her ex-husband’s actions at the time, she says certain behaviors now stand out clearly when she looks back.

She explained that he was often missing from bed late at night and would instead be in his office using the computer.

On several occasions when she entered the room, she remembered him unplugging the computer from the wall instead of simply shutting it down.

She described a similar moment during a 2021 appearance on the Life, Interrupted podcast, saying: "I used to go into the office and he used to always pull the plug out of the wall where the computer was."

She recalled him spending a ton of time in his office and 'pulling the plug' out of the computer when she came in the room ITV

"So rather than just closing the laptop down or letting me see the screen, he'd actually pull the plug out of the wall."

"And it's only when I look back – and I spotted this three or four times in the relationship – I think what was he doing on the computer to actually physically pull it out of the wall?"

After discovering the truth, Crombie initially believed she could not go on to have his children.

Just five days later, she went into premature labor.

"And thank goodness that when my girls arrived, I looked at them and felt nothing but love. They actually saved me because I had to rebuild my life for them. I don't think I'd be here without them," Crombie said.
