Meghan Condry was left shocked after she came across a five-year-old preserved burger in her wardrobe that she initially started as an experiment but later forgot about it. Finding it again so many years later, Meghan says the burger is rock solid to the point that it can be thrown and smash it right through the window.
Megan Condry found a McDonald's cheeseburger perfectly preserved in her wardrobe. The surprising part of it? She bought the junk food five years ago.
Megan who is from Washington DC intentionally kept the burger in her wardrobe as an experiment initially, however, later she forgot about it until five years later, she told NY Post.
She was going through her wardrobe searching for Christmas decorations when she accidentally knocked the box of preserved cheeseburger and it fell out.
Initially, the burger appeared “rock hard, as hard as a hockey puck”. Condry said: “I could probably smash a window with it.”
In a blog post, McDonald’s has tried to explain the lack of mold or decomposition on the topic since Condry is not the first to try this type of experiment on their food.
In a blog post titled, Response to the myth that McDonald’s burgers do not decompose, the fast-food company explained itself.
They said: “In the right environment, our burgers, like most other foods, could decompose. But, in order to decompose, you need certain conditions – specifically moisture.
“Without sufficient moisture – either in the food itself or the environment – bacteria and mould may not grow and therefore, decomposition is unlikely.”
The company cleared that decomposition of food has nothing to do with chemicals or lack of nutrients. In fact, it is all about moisture content and conditions it's kept in.
Well, we are glad to know about this.
