Woman Gets Funniest Revenge On Ex Trying To Get Her Jailed
Breakups and divorces bring out the worst in people and it definitely brought out the worst in OP's ex-husband. User @DittoJ shared a story of petty revenge where her ex tried to get her jailed simply for divorcing him. Unfortunately for him, OP took meticulous revenge.
She shared the story of her divorce that took place in the 90s and her ex was not happy that she had decided to leave him.
He was unhappier when he had to move out of the house that OP owned before she married him. So he did what any self respecting man would do.
*Reads notes*. No, he did the opposite. He tore up her belongings and destroyed furniture.
But his ire did not end there as he submitted a detailed list of items that he claimed OP had kept from him. Items that he had ever owed in the first place.
If OP did not return those things, she would be jailed for contempt of court. The alternative was paying $2000 and in those days, $2k went a long way.
OP was resigned to going to jail because she did not want to pay up until a friend of hers gave her an excellent idea.
Return the things that did not exist.
OP's ex had failed to describe any of the items that he had left behind which left room for a whole lot of creativity.
OP and her friend did the math and it turned out OP would only be out some $200 if she ended up returning the items. Plus, she would avoid jail which was a huge plus.
OP went around to pawn shops and thrift stores collecting the items her ex had so lovingly asked for. Except she bought the worst versions of the items that she could find.
This included a terrible old gun, a horrible statue, useless gear, and a monopoly game board.
OP even recorded the packing of the materials so she would have evidence of all the items being returned. The attorney simply let the judge know the items had turned up in the house and the judge was none the wiser. Or they just did not care.
The judge simply asked them to drop off the items and finalised the divorce.
OP wished she could see his face when he saw every item from his list but alas that wasn't possible.
Commenters found the entire situation hilarious.
They even applauded her friend who came up with the idea.
Others apparently had gone through a similar experience.
This commenter questioned whether the husband had to prove that those items existed in the first place but other commenters mentioned that it may not have been necessary based on certain state laws.
